Novi - IdeasTap Inspires: Magnum Professional Practice
I have always been intrigued by how architecture and the environment surrounding us influences our mood, lifestyle and daily routine.
Very close to the neighbourhood where i grew up in Genoa (Italy) was a set of enormous brutalist blocks used for social housing that was known as one of the most dangerous parts of the city. I therefore always associated this architecture with dodgy and un-hospitable places.
For one week i set out to explore one of the biggest brutalist neigbourhoods in europe, Novi Zagreb (New Zagreb), to investigate how this very same kind of environment influenced and made me feel.
It is'nt therefore a social investigation but a personal trip with the purpose of getting rid and better understand my preconceptions and my perception of a very similar space in a completely different kind of environment.
This is just a small selection of a series that I intend to further develop with more travels to Zagreb and other cities.
